College Program
Program Overview
Torrance Memorial's college student volunteer program (ages 18–25) provides students with the opportunity to experience a healthcare setting while gaining personal satisfaction through service. College volunteers are part of the Adult Volunteer Program and serve across hospital departments, supporting patients, visitors, and staff.
Application Process
College student volunteers must meet all requirements of the Adult Volunteer Program. View the Information Sheet for the Adult Volunteer Program (PDF) .
A pre-application is available for a limited time during scheduled application windows. Due to high demand, space is limited for each orientation cycle. Applicants must be available for both orientation dates and follow all submission instructions provided by Volunteer Services.

Important Notes
There are no short-term, episodic, hands-on patient care, shadowing, or observation opportunities in the college volunteer program.
During respiratory season (November 1 – March 31), flu vaccination is required and masking may be required in patient care areas depending on current public health guidance.
Health Screening Requirements
Tuberculosis (TB) Screening
Healthcare personnel, including volunteers, are required to complete annual TB screening. Torrance Memorial provides TB screening and X-rays at no cost.
Flu Vaccine
Flu vaccination is required during respiratory season to help protect patients. Masking may also be required in direct patient care areas depending on current guidelines.
