Price Transparency
Torrance Memorial is committed to providing healthcare pricing information so that patients can better anticipate and understand their financial responsibilities and make informed healthcare decisions. Billing for hospital services begins with charges, supplies and pharmaceuticals during a patient's hospital visit outlined in our chargemaster [XLXS]. We also provide a machine-readable file [CSV] that provides pricing information. Torrance Memorial does not have "cash prices" for services. As inpatient visits typically cost more than outpatient visits, we provide a list of average charges by Diagnosis Related Groups ("DRG"). View a list of average charges. If you need common outpatient services, such as an X-rays or MRIs, then you can also obtain a price estimate through our price estimation tool.
Price Estimator Tool
When seeking an estimate, please have the following information available:
- Patient information
- Insurance details (i.e. insurance card)
- CPT code or Service description (CPT codes are preferable)
If you need assistance with creating an estimate using our price estimation tool, please call 310-517-4754.
Understanding pricing for medical services can be complex, however charges do not necessarily predict what a patient may pay. For insured patients, the amount a patient may owe is based on the type of health insurance and coverage benefits the patient has. For more information about your benefits or to determine your health coverage benefits, please contact your health insurance company.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under federal law, health care providers must give patients who do not have insurance—or who are not using insurance—an estimate of expected charges for medical items and services.
What Your Estimate Includes
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs such as:
- Medical tests
- Prescription drugs
- Medical equipment
- Hospital fees
When You Should Receive Your Estimate
Your health care provider must give you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your scheduled medical service or item.
You may also request a Good Faith Estimate from your health care provider—and any other provider involved in your care—before scheduling services.
Your Rights If Your Bill Is Higher Than Expected
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill.
Important: Keep a Copy of Your Estimate
Be sure to save a copy or take a photo of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.

Financial Assistance Program
If you are uninsured, then the price you will pay will depend on the services you need and the amount of financial assistance you qualify for under our Financial Assistance Program. We encourage those without insurance or insurance coverage for the service they seek to contact our Business Office at 310-517-4784 to obtain more information on rates for services and to determine eligibility for discounted prices, including full financial assistance.
