Clinical Aromatherapy & Essential Oil Therapy
Clinical aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of essential oils. It is a patient-centered and holistic approach for balancing physical health, emotional needs and spiritual well-being.
Torrance Memorial is focused on integrative patient care and staff education providing the opportunity for integrative therapists to educate nursing staff on the use of essential oils to complement therapeutic interventions that may help relieve symptoms. These outcomes can decrease anxiety, help manage stress, improve sleep, control nausea, uplift mood, relieve pain and improve quality of life overall.
Healthcare aromatherapy is a credible integrative complementary method as evidence of the effectiveness of essential oils continues to grow with increased research.

Reiki is a safe and natural method of energy therapy using life-force energy to treat the whole person, mind, body and spirit. It helps to return the person to balance functioning on every level - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and even social, regardless age or state of health. Reiki is non-invasive and can do no harm. This integrative therapy supports well-being and strengthens our own natural healing ability by providing balance and deep relaxation. Reiki also helps relieve side effects of certain medical treatments and promotes recovery.
Integrative Therapy emphasizes mindfulness as a ground for the experience of living and caring for life. Cultivating deepened qualities of attention, ethics, insight, compassion and resilience, as well as the implementation of meditation and reflective practice, to effectively accompany people and their families through the experience of illness and challenging times.
