Posted on Jul 10, 2020 By Noel Le, RDN Shishito peppers might look spicy but they are surprisingly mild. Typically served as a yummy appetizer in restaurants they are actually quite simple to make at home. Blistered shishito peppers are usually stir-fried in a skillet, however, making them in an air fryer makes them even easier to prepare and uses less oil, making them healthier. They’re also packed with vitamin C and are a great source of dietary fiber! On top of these benefits, this recipe uses liquid aminos as a replacement for regular soy sauce. This means it’s also perfect for anyone that may be sodium-conscious. Ingredients 20 shishito peppers Extra virgin olive oil spray 1 tbsp sesame oil 2 ½ tsp liquid aminos (ex: Coconut Aminos or Bragg’s Liquid Aminos) 2 garlic cloves, minced ½ tsp honey Directions Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Spritz the peppers all over with olive oil, while in the air fryer basket. Arrange them in an even layer. Air fry the peppers for 10-15 minutes until they are blistered and have reached the desired char. Toss halfway through. In a large mixing bowl, add liquid aminos, sesame oil, minced garlic, and honey. Transfer the cooked peppers to the sauce mixture and toss to coat evenly. Serve immediately and enjoy them by simply grabbing the stem and eating the pepper (seeds and all). Discard the stem afterwards.
