The Jawbone Trail in Palos Verdes Peninsula is not for the fainthearted;
neither is operating as a young physician or professional in the South
Bay. But the Torrance Memorial Young Physicians and Professionals Alliance
(YPPA) exists as a way for devotees of the outdoors and other pursuits
to meet and create lasting friendships and networking opportunities, and
support Torrance Memorial.
“The YPPA holds several events throughout the year,” says member
Sylvia Gayed, founder and CEO of Manhattan Tax and Accounting, in Manhattan
Beach. “Three or four hikes, a casino night, a holiday party, Mardi
Gras party and different dinners.”
“This hike was one of the toughest I’d ever done. Extremely
steep up- hill and down. But the views! Spectacular.” The hike,
held August 5, fol- lowed a loop on the Jawbone Trail, splitting into
moderate and advanced. “Some of us took about two hours, others
were faster and did it in an hour and a half,” says Gayed.
“It’s a wonderful chance to meet people in the medical and
business communities and make friends for life.” YPPA’s next
event will be the Torrance Memorial Holiday Festival exclusive tree lighting,
November 26.
