FACT: Many people over 50 suffer from more than one type of arthritis:
Osteoarthritis - often called degenerative arthritis is from wear, tear and overuse of joints.
Rheumatoid arthritis - is the most common type of inflammatory arthritis. It happens when the body’s immune system does not work properly.
Psoriatic arthritis - is inflammation of the skin and joints. Scaling skin gives way to swelling of the fingers and toes.
Gout - is caused by crystals that collect in the joints and cause pain and inflammation.
Lupus - causes painful, swollen joints among other problems. It happens when the body’s immune system does not work properly.
Unfortunately, you can’t diagnose joint pain on your own. If you’re suffering from any pain, talk to your primary care physician.
