The Joint Commission's Certificate of Distinction for Primary Stroke
Centers recognizes Torrance Memorial Stroke Center's efforts to prevent
strokes in our community as well as treat them. Our Community Education
Department speaks at community centers, churches, conferences, and events
to raise awareness of how to prevent strokes, the signs and symptoms of
stroke and what to do if a stroke should occur.
Torrance Memorial's Adult Education offers classes to health care professionals
and the community. Classes range from CPR and health education classes
to fitness and exercise classes, smoking cessation and weight loss, to

Just like stroke patients and families need education and support, our
community needs support to learn how to recognize the signs of stroke
and prevent them from happening. Torrance Memorial offers a free
Speakers' Bureau to groups of 15 or more. To schedule a speaker call the Torrance Memorial

Stroke Support Group
Torrance Memorial provides stroke patients and family caregivers education
and support; meets monthly on the first Wednesday of the month at 10:00

support groups include a Bereavement Support Group, Caregiver Support Group, Drop-in
Grief Support Group, Medication Support Group, Meditation Circle, and more.
Neurological and Stroke Rehabilitation Program is our comprehensive team of therapists coordinates a patient's plan
of care as indicated for the following diagnoses:
- Neurological impairments
- Acquired brain damage
- Traumatic head injury
We actively involve families as much as possible and work with the patient,
family and physician to achieve an optimal level of community integration

Hospice is California-licensed, Medicare-certified, and accredited by the Joint

to ensure they received the best care possible, and helps coordinate other
