Linda Schack, M.D. - Medical Director

Dr. Linda Schack

Dr. Schack opened a private practice in adolescent medicine in 1994, and is one of only a handful of doctors in the country who see teens and young adults exclusively.

She has extensive experience treating patients with eating disorders in outpatient, residential, and hospital settings, including intensive care.

Dr. Schack received her M.D. from Tulane Medical School, and completed a pediatrics residency and adolescent medicine fellowship at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She certified by the American board of Pediatrics Sub board of Adolescent Medicine, and is a member of the Society for Adolescent Medicine, the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals, the Academy for Eating Disorders, and the National Eating Disorders Association.

Bobbi O'Brien, R.N., Ph.D. - Clinical Psychologist

Dr. O'Brien has been working in the eating disorders field for over 20 years. She began her career working with adolescent and adult hospital patients as a registered nurse, including 11 years with the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute Eating Disorders Program. Dr. O'Brien went on to pursue a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, leading to subsequent work with eating disorders patients in both residential and private practice settings.

Dr. O'Brien's combined experience in nursing and clinical psychology informs her unique perspective in caring for hospital patients with eating disorders. Dr. O'Brien is a member of the Academy for Eating Disorders, the American Psychological Association, and the National Eating Disorders Association. In addition to her position at Torrance Memorial Medical Center, Dr. O'Brien has a private clinical psychology practice in Torrance.

Mini Mehra, M.D. - Gastroenterologist

Dr. Mini MehraDr. Mini Mehra is now serving the greater South Bay region after 15 years at the UCLA Medical Center as a board-certified pediatrician with additional certifications in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.

Dr. Mehra is an attending physician at Miller Children's Hospital, and she continues her tenure at UCLA Medical School as an Associate Professor of Pediatric Gastroenterology. She is a former Director of the Pediatric Eosinophilic GI Disorders Clinic at the UCLA School of Medicine, as well as the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center.

Dr. Mehra received her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center, and completed her internship and residency training in pediatrics at the UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Mehra also completed a fellowship in pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Mehra's areas of interest include eating disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, hepatology, nutritional support of the neonate, and eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders.

T.J. Rai, M.D. - Psychiatrist

Dr. Tejinderpal T.J. Rai

Dr. Tejinderpal "T.J." Rai is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology to provide psychiatric services to children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Rai attended medical school in India, and completed his psychiatry residency at Washington University in St. Louis, MO.

He obtained advanced training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute, including specific experience with eating disorders patients. Dr. Rai has been in private practice in Torrance since 2002.

Michele Manarino, M.S., R.D.

Michele Manarino, M.S., R.D.

Michele Manarino received her degree in food and nutrition from California State University, Long Beach, and is a visiting professor at the Art Institute in Orange County and Mount San Antonio College.

She has extensive experience working with eating disordered patients in residential, hospital, and office settings. In addition to working with patients in the Medical Stabilization Program, Michele sees clients in her private office practice, focusing on disordered eating, weight management, wellness, family nutritional counseling, and sports nutrition. She particularly enjoys working with adolescents and young adults.
