Virtual Support Groups

Women in Treatment

Support is important during your journey. Women with cancer share their stories, vulnerabilities and insights from diagnosis through treatment, in a safe, supportive space. Topics include cultivating emotional resilience, body image and sexuality, talking with loved ones about cancer and caring for ourselves. Groups are facilitated by our Psychosocial Counselor via the online platform Zoom.

Coping with Cancer for Caregivers During COVID-19 Times

Women Empowered Cancer Support Group (WE CAN)

For nearly 20 years, this group of women have journeyed through their experiences of cancer and beyond. This group empowers women to face their diagnosis, recurrence or experience as a cancer survivor with resilience and support. Women affected by cancer can gain hope and empowerment, obtain practical information on cancer treatment and community resources, address feelings associated with a cancer diagnosis and life beyond treatment, and learn new ways of coping, communicating and connecting.

Mastectomy/Breast Reconstruction Support Group

For women pre and post mastectomy/breast reconstruction. This support group helps support mastectomy/breast cancer reconstruction patients through sharing stories and getting to know other survivors who had a mastectomy/breast reconstruction. RSVP required. Please call (310) 517-4660.

Men's Cancer Support Group

This free group meets the first and third Wednesdays of each month. This support group is a gathering of men living with or recovering from any type of cancer. It is a safe environment to ask questions and share concerns and experiences of living with cancer. Facilitated by Reverend Jan Lee.

Head and Neck Cancer Support Group

Virtual Head and Neck Cancer Support Group is a safe environment to share your experiences related to diagnoses and learn about available resources. Early Detection

Breast Health Information

Free information on breast cancer screening and how to perform a breast self-examination. RSVP is required, please call (310) 784-6335, option 3.

Low Dose CT Screening

Lung cancer screening for high risk individuals who are aged 55-77 years old, current smoker or former smoker who quit within the last 15 years and smoke at least a 30 pack a year history. Fees are $205. Medicare may cover if you are eligible under their criteria. For more information, please call (310) 517-1072.

Community Support Groups

Cancer Support Community Redondo Beach

The Cancer Support Community is an international non-profit cancer support organization with a center in Redondo Beach. The Cancer Support Community offers a host of free programs including support groups, classes and wellness workshops to aid cancer patients and their loved ones. Spanish-speaking support group also available.

Web-Based Support Groups

Many cancer support groups for patients and loved ones can be found at cancer information sites on the Internet. Cancer Care offers an array of Internet-based support groups that are facilitated by professional oncology social workers.
