Do you or someone you love have a problem with opioid dependence? Thelma
McMillen Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment can help assist you or
your loved one through the treatment process. We have found that opioid
users have unique needs in terms of triggers, use patterns and withdrawal
symptoms. Opioids are any of various compounds that bind to specific receptors
in the central nervous system and have analgesic (pain relieving) effects
including prescription medications such as oxycodone and hydrocodone and
illicit substances such as heroin.
Opioid treatment at the Thelma McMillen Center consists of a process and
education group in addition to assessment for medicated assisted treatment.
Upon entry into the adult program, we conduct a comprehensive bio-psycho-social
assessment if opioid abuse is identified. If so, in addition the core
elements of our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), the patient will also
receive a thorough medical evaluation to determine if Medicated Assisted
Treatment (MAT) is a viable option. Once it is confirmed that the patient
would benefit from special emphasis for opioid problems, they have the
option of participating in an Opioid process and education group that
is only open to opioid sufferers.
