The Jared Sidney Torrance Hospital admitted its first patient on May 17,
1925. The vision Mr. Torrance had for this facility was grand. His wife,
Helena Childs Torrance, worked tirelessly to make his dream a reality,
since Mr. Torrance died before the hospital opened.
If Mr. Torrance were alive today, he would be amazed at the technology
and lifesaving procedures performed by the experienced medical care team
treating patients with much compassion and care as the first doctors and
nurses did years ago. He would be proud to have his name represented on
a health system that offers a multitude of services and technology provided
by individuals who never forget that the patient comes first.
