Your Healthcare Team

At Torrance Memorial, a team of committed and caring professionals actively participate in your care.

Our Staff and Volunteers

From the moment you check into the medical center until the time you leave, your physician coordinates your healthcare program. Working with your physician are nurses, therapists, dietitians, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, X-ray technicians, pulmonary and dietary staff. All healthcare professionals employed at Torrance Memorial and volunteers are easily identified with photo I.D. badges that bear their names and departments.

Torrance Memorial has nearly 900 volunteers who devote their time and talent to helping patients, their families and other medical center professionals. Medical center volunteers also wear bright blue jackets. They are actively involved in a variety of services. For additional information, please refer to the Special Services Section.

The practice of modern medicine involves many support services personnel. Behind-the-scenes employees include housekeepers, transcriptionists, engineers, office workers, and many other people in important jobs that relate to your care.

Torrance Memorial's clinical social workers offer short-term counseling and crisis intervention for patients and family members. In addition to assisting you with your psycho-social needs, they provide referrals to support groups, community agencies and counseling. Arrangements to see a social worker can be made either through your nurse or by contacting the medical center's Case Management department at extension 4727.

At Torrance Memorial, we take pride in our commitment to excellent care and services. If we fall short of providing the quality of care you expect, please let us know. Patients are encouraged to contact a nursing supervisor or call the medical center operator and ask for the house administrative supervisor.
