Free and Confidential Assessment

A Free and Confidential Assessment (confidential to the fullest extent under federal and state law) with a trained professional is available to anyone seeking help. Intake inquiries are taken 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 310-784-4879 for the Adult Program and 310-257-5760 for the Teen Program. The assessment appointment generally lasts 60 to 90 minutes.

The Road to Recovery begins with a single step -- the recognition that there is a problem. The assessment stage is aimed at creating an individualized plan that measures physical, emotional, social and behavioral status along with substance abuse history. Urine testing is available upon request. At the end of an assessment, the therapist will make a recommendation (outpatient, inpatient, detoxification, education or if a program is even necessary).

If outpatient treatment is deemed appropriate, the Thelma McMillen Center for Chemical Dependency Treatment for Adults and Adolescents allows individuals recovering from substance abuse to continue their day-to-day activities while learning how to stay clean and sober within the framework of their daily lives. This is especially important to the recovery process because it encourages people with alcohol and drug problems to learn new behaviors in the same day-to-day living and working environments.

The Thelma McMillen Center benefits from a multidisciplinary treatment team consisting of physicians, phychiatrists, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, certified chemical dependency counselors, fitness and nutrition specialists, career mentors and art therapists. We are dedicated to treating the whole person -- mind, body and spirit.
