About Us

Torrance Hospital IPA is a physician-owned organization serving senior and commercial HMO patients since 1985. The organization is comprised of a large number of Torrance Memorial staff physicians, representing over 400 primary care and specialty doctors in private practice throughout the South Bay. Our doctors are independently practicing physicians and are dedicated to providing you with quality care in each of their offices. Because the group's focus is small, they can offer more personal service and the most efficient use of medical resources. For this reason, THIPA is an acknowledged leader in healthcare management and our physicians are committed to providing the best care and service to their patients.

Self-Referral

In order to improve patient access to care, THIPA implemented a new program in 2006 eliminating excessive office visits and unnecessary paperwork. The Senior Self-Referral Benefit allows THIPA's Medicare patients to access their most common specialists without having to request a referral or authorization from their primary care physicians. Due to the tremendous popularity of this program, THIPA extended the Self-Referral Benefit to its commercial patients, further streamlining access to specialty care.
