Emphasis is on safety with mobility. IX. Back School: Classes are designed to teach the patient back care, correct body mechanics and injury prevention through movement and exercise. Posture and long-term back maintenance are emphasized. X. Lactation Program: Personalized outpatient consultations are available with a physician's referral for mothers and babies with breastfeeding difficulties including sore nipples, latching-on problems, babies with poor weight gain and babies with special needs are offered from our lactation specialist. XI. Incontinence Program: Incontinence, or loss of bladder control, is a physical condition that affects an estimated 11 million Americans every day. Both men and women, of any age, can experience some form of urinary incontinence. Along with leakage, there may be other symptoms: Urgency, a strong desire to urinate, even when the bladder is not full. Frequency: urinating more than 6 - 8 times a day, or more than once every 2 hours. Nocturia: Awakening from sleep because of the urge to urinate. Many things can contribute to incontinence, including: bladder infection, weak pelvic floor muscles, illness/cough, medications, smoking, caffeine intake, hormonal changes of menopause. Although incontinence is not necessarily a natural part of aging, it can be the result of many years of changes in your body, especially in women. With the right kind of treatment, most people can get incontinence under control. The treatments are private and painless, combining assessment, pelvic muscle rehabilitation, bladder retraining, patient education and an instructional in-home program. Treatment applications also include fecal incontinence, pelvic pain, enuresis and chronic benign prostatitis. XII. Lymphedema Program: Patients often need help managing limb swelling linked to lymphedema. Treatment involves manual lymphatic draining, bandaging, self-massage, skin care, homecare program, exercise and referral for compression garment. Our goal for each patient is risk awareness and the ability to keep the extremity at a manageable size to maximize function. Referral Information - All evaluations and treatments are performed per a physician's order. Pre-authorization for outpatient evaluation is required by most insurance carriers.
