Education and Support Groups

The Joint Commission's Certificate of Distinction for Primary Stroke Centers recognizes Torrance Memorial Stroke Center's efforts to prevent strokes in our community as well as treat them. Our Community Education Department speaks at community centers, churches, conferences, and events to raise awareness of how to prevent strokes, the signs and symptoms of stroke and what to do if a stroke should occur.

Torrance Memorial's Adult Education offers classes to health care professionals and the community. Classes range from CPR and health education classes to fitness and exercise classes, smoking cessation and weight loss, to healthy and healing. To register for a class, or find out more about the classes offered, call us at 310-517-4701.

Just like stroke patients and families need education and support, our community needs support to learn how to recognize the signs of stroke and prevent them from happening. Torrance Memorial offers a free Speakers' Bureau to groups of 15 or more. To schedule a speaker call the Torrance Memorial Speakers Bureau at 310-517-4706.
