How is Robotic Surgery Performed?
During robot-assisted surgery, the surgeon's hands control the instruments
in the robot's arms, which can rotate in any direction. The surgeon
sits at a console and performs the procedure using an enhanced, three-dimensional
image. By contrast, laparoscopic surgery only allows the surgeon to see
a two-dimensional image.
A highly trained surgeon's experience and judgment coupled with the
precision, maneuverability and control of the robot is a winning combination
for patients who need minimally invasive surgery.
