Helping Those Who Need It
We realize that hospital care can be expensive. To help meet the needs of low-income, uninsured, and underinsured patients, Torrance Memorial has a financial assistance program for full charity or partial charity care to assist with payments.
Eligibility for financial assistance is based on an evaluation of income and expense information. Patients must meet eligibility requirements and complete an application to qualify.
Income Qualification Levels
For patients whose family income is less than twice (200%) the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), their entire bill may be written off.
For patients whose family income is from 200%-350% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), the patient liability will be no more than what Medicare would have paid for the service (usually a discount of 70-80% from billed charges).

Discounts for Uninsured Patients Who Don't Qualify for Charity Care
Patients who do not have health insurance or a government-sponsored plan and do not meet the income standards for the Torrance Memorial Charity Care Program will be offered a substantial discount off their bill for medically necessary services. Patients will generally receive an 81% discount or more off their bill. Generally, patients must make a full payment at the discounted rate within 30 days from the date of service to qualify for this program.
