Mehran Ron Taban M.D. is a distinguished ophthalmologist
specializing in the retina, macula and degenerative diseases in the greater
Los Angeles area. A Board Certified Fellow of the American Academy of
Ophthalmology, he graduated at the top of his medical school class at
the University of California Irvine, achieving status in Alpha Omega Honor
Medical Society. Dr. Taban has undergone rigorous ophthalmology training,
including residency at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, being appointed
as the Chief Resident, followed by vitreoretinal fellowship at the Cleveland
Clinic in surgical and medical retina, where he received Heed Fellowship
award, Retina Society Fellowship award, and the prestigious and exclusive
Ronald G. Michels Fellowship Foundation award.
Dr. Taban has performed thousands of vitreoretinal lasers and surgeries.
His expertise and interests include complex retinal detachments, diabetic
retinopathy, macular degeneration, ocular trauma, retinal vein occlusion,
intraocular hemorrhage, and uveitis.
Dr. Taban has a strong interest in research and has published over 50
original articles and book chapters in top-tiered journals. He is a notable
journal reviewer for Ophthalmology and British Journal of Ophthalmology
and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American
Society of Retina Specialists, and the Association for Research in Vision
and Ophthalmology (ARVO).
Outside of work, Dr. Taban enjoys catching up with family and friends
as well as studying history, hiking and jogging.
