Dr. Simko was board certified by the American Board of Radiology in 1978 and recertified in 1999. He is an active member of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology (ASTRO), the Los Angeles Radiologic Society, and the Southern California Radiation Oncology Society. He is a member of the California Medical Association and Los Angeles County Medical Association. He has served as District President of LACMA.

He serves on numerous committees at the Torrance Memorial Medical Center, including the Cancer Committee, Medical Executive Committee, Radiation Safety Committee, and the Investigational Review Board. He has also served as the president of TMMC's Health Care Foundation for the past ten years. A founding board member of the Wellness Community of the South Bay, he continues to serve on its Professional Advisory Board.

Outside of work, he enjoys his active family, leisure reading, skiing, and hiking.
