Physician BioDr. Ghanta majored in biology and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997. She then went on to St. George's University School of Medicine and obtained her medical degree in 2002. She completed a general surgery residency at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ in 2007. Her interest in colon and rectal surgery lead her to pursue further specialty training. Dr. Ghanta spent an additional year completing an ACGME accredited colon and rectal surgery fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL in 2008. She is currently practicing with the Association of South Bay Surgeons as a board certified general surgeon with additional board certification in colon and rectal surgery. Dr. Ghanta is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), American College of Surgeons (ACS), Association of Women Surgeons (AWS), and American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS). Dr. Ghanta's current interests are in general surgery procedures, as well as anorectal disorders and advanced laparoscopic colon and rectal procedures, for both benign and malignant processes. She is currently Vice Chief of Surgery at Torrance Memorial Medical Center in Torrance, Ca.
