Torrance Memorial Volunteer Auxiliary Presents $186,470 For Lundquist Tower Healing Garden
Torrance Memorial Medical Center's Volunteer Auxiliary presented a check for $186,470 to the Torrance Memorial Health Care Foundation at its 2014 Auxiliary Board Installation Lunch. The donation will be allocated toward the naming of new Lundquist Tower Auxiliary Healing Garden as part of a $1 million, multi-year pledge. To date, $612,775 has been raised.
The nearly 900-member Auxiliary collected the money through various fundraisers and proceeds from the Torrance Memorial Gift Shop.
The Auxiliary Healing Garden will include a flourishing, water-efficient landscape and a peaceful fountain, providing tranquility for patients, families and other members of the Torrance Memorial community to enjoy. It will serve as a restorative space for patients, where they can relax and enjoy the trees, flowers and other integral parts of the landscape.
"We are extremely grateful to all of our wonderful volunteers for the daily work and contribution to building this wonderful feature of the new Patient Tower," said Mary Matson, director of Torrance Memorial Volunteer Services. "Because they have already helped so many through their efforts, it's fitting that so many patients and visitors will benefit from this peaceful, healing space."
In addition to the check presentation, the Auxiliary announced the installation of its 2014 board: Schola Tsai, president; Beth Zager, president elect; Irene Goldman, 1st vice president, Hospital Services; Sunni Won, 2nd vice president, membership; Carla Zanino, secretary; David Sato, treasurer, Jeannine Frandsen and Spirit White, Gift Shop chairpersons; Lindsay Imwalle, special events chairperson; Allen Scarpetti, public relations chairperson; Mimi Brody, parliamentarian; Donna Cohen, legislative issues chairperson; and Tina Trudnowski, historian.
