Torrance Memorial Health Care Foundation Appoints Three Board Members

Torrance Memorial Medical Center has appointed three distinguished community members to the Torrance Memorial Health Care Foundation board. The new members will contribute to the board's ongoing mission of developing funding sources to support health care services provided by Torrance Memorial Medical Center, as well as raising capital for construction of the new $450 million, 398,350-square-foot Patient Tower, scheduled for completion in 2015.

"We are excited and appreciative that these very accomplished individuals have joined our Foundation board of directors," said Laura Schenasi, executive vice president, Torrance Memorial Health Care Foundation. "Joe Hohm, Ann Zimmerman, and Peggy Fisher bring a wealth of new connections and expertise. With their previous involvement at other non-profit organizations, we look forward to the energy and insight they bring to an already strong board."

  • Peggy Fisher – Fisher has served on the Torrance Memorial's Professional Advisory Council, also known as PAC (a volunteer group of attorneys, financial planners, estate planners, and certified public accountants who educate the community on the benefits of charitable tax and estate planning) for more than a decade. This led to her involvement in the annual Golf Tournament and Holiday Festival. Fisher is a Certified Estate Advisor (CEA®), Certified Long Term Care Professional (CLTC), and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) practitioner working out of the Torrance office of LPL Financial, the largest independent broker dealer in the nation. Originally from Westfield, N.J., she moved to Rolling Hills when she was 16. She received her Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Roanoke College and is married to Dan Fisher, an electrical engineer at Northrop Grumman.

  • John Hohm, J.D., CPA – Hohm served nine years on the Torrance Memorial board of trustees in the 1990s. He is a certified public accountant and owner of Redondo Beach-based Medical Accounting Services, a public accounting firm servicing more than 300 physicians and dentists. Prior to acquiring the accounting business, Hohm spent five years in the tax department of Deloitte, Haskins, and Sells, three years as chief financial officer for a public real estate development company, and three years as chief financial officer for a private medical data processing company. Hohm graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts in business. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Southern California School of Law in 1972. Hohm has lived in Rolling Hills Estates with his wife Terry since 1979. They have two grown children, and have recently become active grandparents.

  • Ann Raymond Zimmerman – Zimmerman has a long track record of community service, including positions as event chair of the Junior League Los Angeles Gala, as well as capital campaign chair and member of the board of directors for Junior League. She has also served on the boards of the Palos Verdes High School PTSA, Palos Verdes Pop Warner Cheerleading, and Palos Verdes ETI (English Horse Shows). She has served in various capacities for the Los Angeles Music Center Club 100, University of Southern California Town and Gown, USC Hospital Foundation, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art-Costume Council, among other organizations. Zimmerman received a Bachelor of Arts in business with an accounting emphasis from the University of Southern California. She and her husband Gary are long-time residents of Rolling Hills and have three children.
