TORRANCE MEMORIAL HEALTH CARE FOUNDATION APPOINTS FOUR NEW BOARD MEMBERS

Torrance, Calif., July 17, 2012 - Torrance Memorial Medical Center announced the appointment of four new distinguished members to the Torrance Memorial Health Care Foundation board. The new members will contribute to the board's ongoing mission of developing funding sources to support healthcare service provided by Torrance Memorial Medical Center, as well as raising capital for construction of the new $450 million, 398,350-square-foot Patient Tower, scheduled for completion in 2015.

            "We are extremely proud to welcome these enthusiastic new members to our board, said Laura Schenasi, executive vice president, Torrance Memorial Health Care Foundation Board. "With deep-rooted South Bay ties, they are all personally invested in ensuring that our medical center continues to provide exceptional care to meet the current and future needs of our growing community.

The new members include the following:

  • Francesca Torino Deaver - Deaver is President of Bayco Financial Corporation, a Torrance-based real estate development, construction and management company. Prior to that role she served as vice president of property management at Torino Industries, Inc. in Torrance. She achieved her Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations with an emphasis in business at the University of Southern California. Deaver is a proud Torrance resident and is pleased that all three of her children were born at Torrance Memorial, as well as her granddaughter five months ago.
  • Brett Dillenberg - With more than 16 years of senior executive experience in the financial services industry, Dillenberg is currently branch owner of RPM Mortgage dba Platinum Capital, overseeing offices in Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica, San Diego and West Covina. Dillenberg cofounded Platinum Capital Group in 1993. Serving as its president, he started the mortgage banking division in 2000. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Southern California. Dillenberg is a recipient of Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year award. He currently resides in Palos Verdes Estates.
  • Thyra Endicott, M.D., F.R.C.P.C., Radiation Oncology - Endicott has been a member of the Radiation Oncology staff at Torrance Memorial since 2000. In addition to her role at Torrance Memorial, she served assistant clinical professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology for the UCLA School of Medicine from 2003 to 2005. She received her Bachelor of Arts in religion at Harvard University, magna cum laude. She followed that by receiving a Bachelor of Science in nursing at University of California at Los Angeles, magna cum laude. Born in Fernie, British Columbia, she has maintained dual American and Canadian citizenship. She obtained her Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Western Ontario, with honours. She then completed her residency in radiation oncology at London Regional Cancer Centre in Ontario, where she served as chief resident. She currently resides in Palos Verdes Estates.
  • Heidi Hoffman, M.D., Radiology - Hoffman has been a member of the Radiology staff at Torrance Memorial since 2005. Prior to her current role, she worked for Tower Imaging Medical Group, Inc. in West Los Angeles. Hoffman received her Bachelor of Arts in human biology at Stanford University. She went on to earn a Doctorate of Medicine at Tulane University Medical School. Hoffman completed her residency in radiology at Emory University and a fellowship in abdominal imaging at Stanford University. Hoffman grew up in the South Bay and is the daughter of Richard Hoffman, M.D., who served as president of the Foundation from 2010 to 2011. "Dick" Hoffman passed away in Nov. 2011. Heidi is "excited" to carry on the family legacy in support of Torrance Memorial. She currently lives in Palos Verdes Estates.

The Torrance Memorial Medical Center Health Care Foundation was established in 1980. Its mission, as a non-profit corporation, is to develop continuing and growing long-term sources of funds solely for the support of the outstanding professional healthcare services provided by Torrance Memorial Medical Center.

These funds are to be secured through various activities such as capital campaigns, special promotional events and direct solicitation from individual and institutions in the South Bay/Peninsula communities, as well as persons and organizations in other areas of the United States who have interest in supporting the hospital's distinctive healthcare services.

The Health Care Foundation's efforts are inspired by the strong belief that gifts of time and funds from the volunteers and donors are vital resources of support for the hospital.
