They also presented a number of donated items to the Burn Center and Pediatric Unit, including an iPod.

A Generous Spirit

chris trippEach year Torrance Memorial's HealthLinks conducts its annual food drive to benefit Harbor Interfaith Services of San Pedro to help families in need celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. This year Christopher Tripp, a Torrance Memorial Auxiliary volunteer, went above and beyond donating just a few spare cans from the pantry. Because he said it was the "season of giving," he left donation bags around his neighborhood with a note attached asking neighbors to leave non-perishable items outside their door for him to pick up. Tripp collected two over-flowing barrels of food.

"I was really touched by this. I thanked him profusely and assured him Harbor Interfaith would be thrilled to receive the generous donation," said Claire Coignard, HealthLinks director, Health Education.

Tripp said he was really surprised at the way people came through. He then added with a bright smile, "You never know."
