We are communicating—whether we are speaking to one another, rounding on our
patients, using the AIDET tool, engaging in peer review, teaching a class, making a presentation, getting to know a future donor or facilitating a meeting. When we are evaluated by our patients through the HCAHPS survey, it's not surprising that most of the questions are about our communication. Our optimistic goal it to communicate well: Respectfully, clearly and kindly.
Many of you requested a variety of communication classes during the house-wide needs assessment. You will find course descriptions on the TMU website. Making Positive Connections, How to Be a Better Communicator, Difficult Conversations, Managing Emotions Under Pressure and Crucial Conversations are just a few classes offered by TMU in 2013.
In addition, look for other upcoming classes: AIDET/Hourly Rounding, Project Management, and Presentation Skills taught by our own internal staff. Please take advantage of these opportunities throughout the year.
Vision 2013 sessions begin in August. Please review the schedule and select a date that works for you. To review the staff Vision schedule, visit the TMU website under
