Torrance Memorial Medical Center has been ranked as one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation with great women's health programs by Becker's Hospital Review. Torrance Memorial Medical Center was selected based upon its outstanding women's health programs, such as gynecology, obstetrics, reproductive medicine and other women's health needs.
For more than 80 years, Torrance Memorial Medical Center has offered many medical as well as health and wellness services to its patients. Registered Nurses (RNs) and laborists (an obstetrician who stands in for a patient's personal obstetrician in case of an emergency) in Torrance Memorial Medical Center's Labor and Delivery and Mother Baby units are trained to provide advanced life support to any pregnant, or recently delivered, mother who may develop sudden life threatening complications. Laborists work 12-hour shifts at Torrance Memorial to provide 24/7 on-site coverage. This coverage also enables the hospital to offer mothers, who previously delivered via cesarean section, the option of attempting to deliver vaginally if it's desired and she meets the medical assessment requirements.
Hospitals selected for this list were chosen by clinical excellence, quality care and women's health awards. The hospitals have been recognized for excellence in women's health by several organizations, including U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, UNICEF's Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative and CareChex.
