A Proud History, An Exciting Future
A hospital is a dynamic place - a "city within a city," closely bound to the ever-changing character of the community it serves. This has been the ongoing story of Torrance Memorial Medical Center, born out of the vision of a man who gave the breath of life to a city and to its hospital which continues to be an essential part of it. That man was Jared Sidney Torrance. Mr. Torrance was acutely aware that a community could not survive without adequate health care; conversely, a hospital cannot survive without a community to serve. Torrance Memorial has a tradition of excellence and dedication to our community, clearly distinguished from a statement written over 30 years ago before our current hospital was built. Continuing that vision and effort put forth by those before us, we look to the future and what will be the hospital Main Tower.
