Cancer

Addressing the needs of the mind and spirit of those experiencing a cancer diagnosis can be as important as addressing physical needs.  Unique and serious emotional challenges are faced by patients and their families. With the help of our compassionate and experienced team, you can take control of your emotions and put all your energy toward healing. Torrance Memorial is focused on total treatment of mind and body, offering guidance and support when you most need it.

Cancer Survivorship Support Group for Women
A gathering of women that offers an opportunity to share stories, gather information and be surrounded by others who have embarked on a similar journey of healing. Facilitated by Kathy Calderon Lacey, NP, MFT, Tuesdays at 10:00am in the West Tower.

Cancer Survivor, Oncology Caregiver and Friends
This is a gathering of men and women sharing stories, healing and learning new tools to cope with lifes changes. Facilitated by Kathy Calderon Lacey, NP, MFT and Jessielyn Martinez, RN, BSN, OCN every Monday at 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the West Tower.

Lymphedema Discussion Group
Offered by Torrance Memorial and The Wellness Community-South Bay Cities (TWC-SBC) and offers information and support to anyone with lymphedema. Held the last Tuesday of every month (except August and December) from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m.

Family Cancer Support Group 
A drop-in group for the family members and loved ones of hospitalized cancer patients. No reservations or registration is required. Held on Mondays from 3:30pm to 5pm in the 2 North Family Room.

Cardiovascular

Stroke Support Group A monthly support group for those recovering from a stroke. Family members are welcome to attend. Offered the first Wednesday of every month at 10am in the Health Conference Center Room #3.

"Take Heart" Support Group  
A peer support group for individuals with heart disease and their significant others. Our goal is to help you establish stronger support systems by offering reassurance, comfort, support and fellowship. In a roundtable discussion environment, "Take Heart" is facilitated by a person who has experienced a cardiac event. This service is offered free. Monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Caregiver

Caregiver Support Group
An ongoing support group to provide information, nurturing, and companionship to persons providing care for another. Come by yourself or bring someone who is important to you. The group will be led by a licensed clinical social worker. Group meets every Tuesday evening; however, it is not necessary to attend every week. First session free, each session thereafter is $1.00 per class.

Diabetes

Diabetes Support Group
Held the second and fourth Tuesday each month at 7:00 p.m. at Torrance Memorial. The support group will provide education and mutual encouragement. Speakers in attendance by schedule.

Grief/Bereavement 

Bereavement Support Group 
A six-week long grief support group. We can help you find the help you need.  For more information, or to arrange a personal consultation, please contact 310-784-3751.

Drop-in Grief Support Group 
Available Monday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Thursday afternoons from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Health Conference Center. Come when you can, come when you must, but know that we'll be there for you.  For more information, call 310-784-3751. 

Neurological

Parkinson's Disease Support Groups
Groups meet monthly for discussion and sharing on a variety of topics related to Parkinson's disease.  Open to those with Parkinson's, their family members and friends.

Young Onset Parkinson's Disease Support Group
Are you a younger person with Parkinson's Disease? Connect with others close to your age facing similar challenges living with PD. Our monthly meetings provide an opportunity for gaining information and mutual support with others who share similar concerns and interests.  Meets the 3rd Saturday of each month - 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Meets the last Sunday of the month at 1:30 p.m. Anyone interested may attend.

Pulmonary

COPD Support Group (Lungs for Life)
An exciting support group that will provide information and education to graduates of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program and the community, living with chronic lung conditions. Families and caregivers are also welcome to attend. The support group meets every 8 weeks at 10:00am to 12:00pm.

Amputee Support Group
A group that meets quarterly in collaboration with the Mutual Amputee Aid Foundation. This is a free group offered to those who have just recently experienced an amputation or have had one for a while. Friends and families of amputees are also welcome.

Burn Support Group
Designed to meet the special needs of burn patients and their families by assisting them in dealing with the physical and emotional problems related to burn injuries. Group members also have the unique opportunity to receive valuable educational information on continuing care of burn injuries from physicians and other specialists.

Depression Support Group
An ongoing support group for people dealing with depression or bipolar disorder.  Meets the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.  Call Bertha with the Depression BiPolar Support Alliance, Torrance at (310) 534-3881 or email mariadbsa@gmail.com 

Fibromyalgia Support Group
Sponsored by the Arthritis Foundation and meets from 1 pm to 3 pm on the second Saturday of the month. A voluntary $2 donation is requested.

Ostomy Support Group
Provides education and emotional support for ostomates. The group is facilitated by two certified enterostomal therapists. Meetings monthly at 7:30 pm.
