Torrance Memorial Center's Holiday Festival Raises in $14.5 Million for New Patient Tower
Torrance Memorial thanks all of you who made our 28th Annual Holiday Festival such a success. More than 5,000 community members enjoyed the six-day event hosted under a large white tent. Festivities included a display of more than two dozen decorated trees, a Fashion Show, Gala Dinner, Santa Lunch and Holiday Shopping Boutique.
At Friday evening's Gala, an announcement of the largest cumulative donation in the hospital's history of $13.5 million was topped with an additional $426,700 raised through the live auction.
A very special thank you goes to Donald and Priscilla Hunt of Manhattan Beach. The Hunts donated $11.5 million to honor the hospital's dedication to caring for the community. In recognition of the gift, the Donald and Priscilla Hunt Cancer Institute and the Donald and Priscilla Hunt Nuclear Medicine Center will be named and housed within the new patient tower upon its completion in 2015. The Hospital's 850-member volunteer group, the Auxiliary, announced a separate $1 million multi-year pledge. The gift will be allocated toward the Healing Garden in the new main tower. In addition, long-time hospital supporters Melanie and Richard Lundquist made a matching $1 million gift as honorary co-chairs of the $200 million Main Tower capital fundraising campaign in the hopes of inspiring the generosity of others.
