When the diagnosis is cancer, the Cancer Resource Center at Torrance Memorial is here to help. We offer a wide variety of support services to meet the needs of each individual patient and their families.
The goal of the Cancer Resource Center is to help anyone who has questions or concerns about cancer. Staffed by advanced practice nurses, the center offers information and education on cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation to its patients. Averaging over 350 inquiries per month from both local and national patients, the Cancer Resource Center staff welcomes phone calls, walk-ins and e-mail inquiries.
All services of the resource center are free of charge.
Our services include:
- Consultation with an oncology nurse practitioner
- Assistance navigating the heath care system
- Information on community resources, second opinions, clinical trials and locating information online
- Free pamphlets from the American Cancer Society, National Cancer Institute and other organizations
- Cancer lectures, support groups and counseling
- Information about obtaining a wig, mastectomy supplies and medical equipment
- Woman to Woman Image Center and Look Good.. Feel Better for help with appearance

STRONG Cancer Survivorship Center of Excellence, an integral part of the Cancer Resource Center is the Cancer Survivorship Program. This program strives to transform the way care is coordinated and provided in our community.
Program services include:
- Completion of an individual cancer treatment summary and follow up plan including a schedule of appointments and ongoing monitoring strategies
- Navigation services by an experienced oncology nurse to appropriate resources and care providers that can assist in recovery and survivorship

Connection to support groups, exercise programs and volunteer opportunities
The LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center of Excellence Network is an invitation-only collaboration partnership among the Lance Armstrong Foundation, National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers and their community affiliates. This collaboration provides Torrance Memorial with involvement in survivorship research and resources for developing programs and services to better meet the needs of cancer survivors.
