Torrance Memorial Advanced Practice Nurse Council to support the vision of the
Melanie and Richard Lundquist Cardiovascular Institute
The Annual Cardiometabolic Symposium is designed to enhance the knowledge
of nurses caring for medical and surgical patients with cardiometabolic
disorders. Presentations are geared to broaden participants’ understanding
of the diagnoses and management of this patient population. The symposium
explores a variety of topics including clinical research trials, new technologies,
pharmacological advances, dietary guidelines and overall health concerns
of patients affected by cardiometabolic diseases.

At the end of this program, the participant will be able to:
- Describe surgical and medical interventional strategies for patients with
advanced heart failure and valvular heart disease
- Discuss key clinical issues in the care of the patient presenting with
- Describe interventions aimed at preventing amputations as a complication
of peripheral vascular disease
- Identify the patient at risk for cardiometabolic disease and list early
interventions including exercise and dietary changes to slow progression
of the disease
- Discuss the latest updates in diabetes care
- Identify cardiometabolic risk in the obstetric patient and its implications
Continuing Education Credit
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider
Number CEP 300, for 8 contact hours.
Registration fee includes lectures, continental breakfast, lunch, snack,
and syllabus. Pre-registration deadline is August 1, 2016.

If space is available, walk-in registration will be accepted at the door.
Lunch will be provided for walk-ins if supplies allow.
A full refund will be given if this program is canceled. No fees will be
refunded if the participant cancels within 48 hours of the program. Cancellations
prior to 48 hours will receive a refund, minus a $20 processing fee.

between Lomita Blvd. and Skypark Drive. Parking is free in the adjacent
in the West Parking structure.
From the Westside or the San Fernando Valley
Take the 405 Freeway South, exit Hawthorne Boulevard, and turn right. Go
approximately 4.5 miles and turn left on Lomita Boulevard. The medical
center will be on your right.
From Long Beach or Orange County
Take the 405 Freeway North. Transition to the Harbor Freeway (110) South
toward San Pedro. Exit Sepulveda Boulevard and turn right, go about 2
miles and turn left on Crenshaw Boulevard; go about 1 mile and turn right
