Statement of Need
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide and recognizing patients at risk is the key to early interventions and decreased morbidity and mortality. This symposium is designed to provide health care professionals with evidence-based diagnostic and mangement skills to improve helath care outcomes and quality of life for patients with cardiovascular and metabolic risk factors.
Target Audience
Cardiologists, internists, family practitioners, endocrinologists, cardiac surgeons, electrophysiologists, emergency physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this program participants should be able to:
- Identify patients at risk for cardiovascular disease
- Be aware of the incidence of cardiovascular disease in ethnic minority groups
- Select appropriate diagnostic tools and therapeutic options
- Improve patient care outcomes and quality of life
- Describe ways to prevent cardiovascular disease
