What To Expect

Preparing For Orthopedic Surgery

You, the patient, play a very important role in ensuring the success of your orthopedic surgery. Preparing for surgery by learning what you need to do to heal well will help increase the likelihood that you will be happy and satisfied with the outcome. The clinical staff at Torrance Memorial is here to support you throughout your entire journey, from pre-operative education to post-operative recovery and even after you have returned to your active lifestyle.

Before Your Surgery

Patients planning to undergo joint replacement will be asked to attend one of our Joint Class educational events; those having a different type of surgery will be given information on the appropriate educational program to attend.

Why You Should Attend

Checking-In

If your surgery is scheduled to take place between 7 AM - 8:30 AM you will be asked to check in at the Outpatient Center located on Medical Center Drive two hours before your scheduled surgery time.
