Some babies are born prematurely or with special medical needs. Torrance Memorial offers the benefit of neonatal intensive care for newborns so you can feel confident that specialized care is available should it be needed. This includes highly skilled physicians, called neonatologists, who staff the neonatal intensive care unit around the clock, and are on hand to be present during the delivery of your baby, should they be needed. The NICU nurses and other healthcare professionals are also specially trained in the care of sick or premature infants. This is important to know, as not all hospitals provide neonatal intensive care services, and it maybe a factor you want to consider when choosing a hospital. Torrance Memorial offers a level III neonatal intensive care service that provides all services, except cardiac surgeries.
