Adult Program

Initial Assessment

An initial comprehensive assissment is offered free of charge.  An experienced clinician will assist in identifying the extent of the problem and make appropriate recommendations for care.

Solution

If outpatient treatment is recommended as the most appropriate care, the client will undergo a comprehensive physical, psychological, social and spiritual evaluation. If necessary, arrangements will be made for inpatient detoxification. The outpatient treatment process will include education, counseling and identification of triggers, relapse prevention education and 12-step involvement.  Family participation is an important component of the program. Our Adult program is offered both during the day, as well as in the evening. Clients will participate based on their schedules, enabling them to remain at work and involved with their families.

Three Phases of Treatment

  1. Intensive: four days a week for six-eight weeks
  2. Transitional: Three days a week for six weeks
  3. Continuing Care: One day a week for six months

Teen Program

The Thelma McMillen Center Teen Outpatient Program offers an intensive outpatient drug and alcohol treatment program for adolescents ages 13 up to 18. It is designed for adolescents who need intensive and structured program for recovery, but not inpatient care. The program includes a combination of individual, group and family counseling, educational material and 12-Step philosophy.

Know the first signs of drug and alcohol abuse by adolescents:

  • Behavior changes
  • Mood swings
  • Declines in grades
  • Loss of motivation
  • Shift in peer group

Getting Clean and Staying Clean

The goals of the Teen Outpatient Program are to educate and support adolescents to stay clean and sober, create a healthy family environment, improve self esteem and develop a sober social peer network. Similar to the Adult Program, the Teen Program consists of three phases. During the Intensive phase, clients meet five times per week for eight weeks. Then they enter Transitional phase, which meets three times per week for four months. After six months, Continuing Care is available for as long as the teenager is willing to come. All program activities are conducted after school hours and on Saturdays.

Family Involvement

The family component is integral to the successful treatment process.
