Rehabilitation efforts are important from the moment our patients enter our care. The Rehabilitation Department at Torrance Memorial includes:
- Physical rehabilitation
- Speech therapy
- Occupational therapy
Our
outstanding therapists work as part of the multidisciplinary team in
the Stroke Center Program in order to provide optimal care for stroke
patients. Dedicated rehabilitation doctors are available to help our
patients and their families. Depending on the needs of the patient, we
try to have our patients start rehabilitation services within 24 hours
if not sooner.
Following a stroke, patients can
continue to improve and regain functionality over the course of months
-- sometimes up to a year or more. Intensive rehabilitation therapy may
continue for a long time after discharge from Torrance Memorial.
Our
rehabilitation therapists actively involve families as much as
possible, and work with the patient, family and physicians to achieve
an optimal level of community integration as soon as possible.
