Our Team

At the Torrance Memorial Certified Primary Stroke Care Center, providing the highest caliber of evidenced-based care takes an impressive team of professionals. The many complex aspects of a stroke injury require the professional collaboration of specially trained personnel for every stage of the patient's care, from diagnosis through recovery.

Torrance Memorial's Melanie and Richard Lundquist Cardiovascular Institute built the infrastructure for the Torrance Memorial Stroke Program by taking a multidisciplinary approach to stroke care, bringing together a team of healthcare professionals and building awareness throughout the hospital of the processes and protocols that help improve stroke care and encourage positive results. The Stroke Program includes members from nursing, rehabilitation services, medical staff, laboratory, cardiology and radiology. More than 30 nurses from a wide variety of areas within the hospital have been specially trained as "Stroke Champions"; their mission is to educate clinicians, other caregivers and patients and family members on the most effective treatments for stroke, effective rehabilitation techniques and preventive measures.
