At Torrance Memorial our comprehensive approach to cancer is tailored to the needs of each patient. With physicians specializing in specific cancer treatments using advanced equipment and technologies, patients and their families can trust that safe sophisticated care will be delivered with expertise, compassion and personal attention.
Each member of your cancer care team has an important role in the success of your personal treatment plan. That success is enhanced with careful planning and collaboration between all members of your treatment team.
At the Cancer Institute weekly Tumor Board, individual cases are presented, along with the latest research findings and published medical literature to identify the most advanced and effective treatment options available. Tumor Board is attended by representatives of the multidisciplinary oncology team including surgeons, medical oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, primary care physicans, and other oncology specialists.

2 North/Lemkin Pavilion
Most cancer patients who need to stay overnight in the hospital are admitted to 2 North/Lemkin Pavilion. 2 North is a dedicated inpatient oncology and palliative care unit with staff specifically trained to meet the needs of cancer patients and those with symptoms related to advanced disease. 2 North is staffed with certified oncology nurses and a support team trained to control cancer symptoms and facilitate recovery. Social workers are available to assist with psychosocial issues commonly experienced by patients and their loved ones. In addition, the nurses have successfully completed the
Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course and have demonstrated expert competency in administering these medications as well as managing treatment side effects.
